Are you reading the Bible in 90 Days? in 180? 365?
The beginning the year is the perfect time to start and intentionally finish a Bible reading plan. Tomorrow a group of us are starting to read the Bible together in 90 days. I’m excited to start and nervous to lead the tour.
Whatever plan you are using this year here are a few tips I offered to our group that might help you to start strong too…
- Pick one color to underline or write in the margins of your Bible that way you can chart where you have been. Do not be afraid to write in your Bible. This 90 days through I am using purple, last time I used black.
- If something catches your attention keep a notebook/journal handy to note a verse or write down a question. Come back to these once you have finished. Remember I have ADHD Bible reading and this is one of the biggest distractions for me, wandering to find an answer. Come back to the questions. Look back through once you have finished your required reading for the day.
- If one sitting is too overwhelming, stretch it out throughout the day (15 minute sessions maybe). I have the freedom to read after the kids go to bed because my hubby goes to work at night. That means turning off the television and computer. (I know, killjoy!) But some days it is easier to find a moment here and there, or to read in the morning. There is no perfect formula – just find a time and place that works for you.
- Print off this handy bookmarker http://www.momstoolbox.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/b90orgbookmark.pdf. {you can also check out Biblegateway.com for other reading plans}
- The weekends (Friday and Saturday) were hardest for me so I would often devote much of Sunday or Monday afternoon to catching up on what I missed. Think ahead about when you have time to spare during the week because chances are you will need to be prepared to schedule catchup days. No big deal just don’t get discouraged when getting behind inevitably happens.
ARE YOU NERVOUS? Excited? or just ready to start? Do you feel like you got in over your head already? Or are you still afraid to try?
The group we have gathered together in this space for the next 90 days are a wide variety of women plus two guys!! Different ages. Different faith experiences.
Remember that as your friendly Bible Tour Guide… I am here to encourage and pray for you – not to dictate or give a lecture.
If you have a question, need prayer, want to scream or just quit – send me an email. Don’t struggle alone. Don’t rejoice alone. Let’s do this together!
I’m excited to have you along for the journey.
Even if you aren’t reading with us as a group I hope that you will find the time to intentionally pursue the Word of God in your life. He is worth the time.
“the one who says he abides in Him (Jesus) ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” 1 John 2:6
Abiding,
Jessica (aka J.)
